A shaky economy & racetrack closures have left thousands of Greyhounds homeless in the past few years. The Greyhound Project hopes to change that this April with National Adopt-a-Greyhound month.
“Greyhounds make great pets and companions. They are graceful, gentle and can be a great addition to any dog loving family,” Michael McCann, president of the Greyhound Project said in a press release. “Recent track closing & a struggling economy have resulted in fewer adoptions and more surrenders. National Adopt-a-Greyhound month is a great time to welcome these wonderful Greyhounds into loving and permanent homes.”
The Greyhound Project supports more than 300 adoption groups nationwide.
